Advanced lens technologies
With this Nikon AF-S 28mm F1.4E ED lens, you bring your subject to life. It lets you determine the aesthetic quality in detail in any kind of light. This lens delivers outstanding resolving power, even when shooting at a wide aperture. On FX-format cameras, the fixed 28mm focal length gives your photos a natural, true-to-memory feel. The fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 offers beautiful depth of field with excellent bokeh characteristics at any time of day or night. The durable, flexible design makes it a workhorse for the most passionate photographers.
With a 28mm angle of view, the Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.4E ED is the perfect lens for reproducing naturally large spaces with depth, just as you see them. Compositions and perspectives appear natural and exactly as intended, making the AF-S 28mm f/1.4E ED an exciting lens to spend the day (and night) capturing portraits, landscapes, architecture and interiors with high resolution and outstanding definition. The lens delivers top performance from Nikon DSLRs, particularly the latest generation of high-resolution cameras. Expect remarkable sharpness across the entire frame, regardless of the aperture setting, and minimal distortion. Use its large and beautiful bokeh to soften backgrounds and accentuate foreground/background relationships.
The AF-S 28mm f/1.4E ED lens takes optical design to the next level. Two ED glass elements and three aspherical (AS) lens elements combat chromatic aberration and colour fringing for superb sharpness and contrast.
Durable design and flexible performance
Despite its incredible imaging power, the AF-S 28mm f/1.4E ED is simply a means to realise your creative vision. To deliver exceptional photography for a lifetime, every effort has been made to ensure reliability and worry-free functionality, regardless of weather conditions or challenging environments. Fluorine Coat effectively repels dust and droplets, while all moving parts are sealed for additional protection against the elements. For smooth, highly accurate focus with comfortable handling, the focus ring operation has been refined for optimal torque and usability when focusing manually.
Aspherical lens
The lens features a curved, non-spherical surface. This is used to reduce aberrations and allow for a more compact lens size. Aspherical lenses minimise coma and other forms of lens aberration, even when used at the widest aperture. They are particularly useful for correcting distortion in wide angle lenses and contribute to a lighter, more compact design by reducing the number of standard (spherical) elements. Aspherical lens elements correct these distortions by continuously varying the refractive index from the centre of the lens outward.
Electromagnetic aperture mechanism
An electromagnetic aperture mechanism in the lens ensures highly accurate electronic aperture control during automatic exposure in burst shooting. With conventional D/G type lenses, the aperture blades are driven by mechanical coupling levers. This lens incorporates an electromagnetic aperture mechanism. The following cameras are compatible with this lens: D5, D4 series, D3 series, Df, D810, D810A, D800 series, D750, D700, D610, D600, D500, D300 series, D7500, D7200, D7100, D7000, D5600, D5500, D5300, D5200, D5100, D5000, D3400, D3300, D3200, D3100, Nikon 1 J1, J2, J3, J4, J5 with FT-1, Nikon 1 V1, V2, V3 with FT-1, Nikon 1 S1, S2 with FT-1.
