The Leica X2 digital compact camera with Elmarit 24mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens (silver) is a light, compact Leica camera with a 16.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor in APS-C format. You would normally only find that format in much larger DSLR cameras.
The fixed Elmarit 24mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens has 8 elements in 6 groups (1 aspherical lens). You can focus manually or choose precise Autofocus with automatic Exposure. This way, a single press of the shutter button gives you perfectly exposed, sharp photos. With the wide angle you can keep enough distance when needed, but you can also get close to your subject to emphasise details in a scene.
The improved CMOS sensor delivers low noise in low light and when shooting indoors without Flash. It also offers a wide dynamic range and accurate Colour rendering. ISO sensitivity goes up to 12500 ISO. The crop factor of the sensor is 1.5 compared to the 35mm film format. This means the lens has an effective Focal distance (35mm equivalent) of approximately 35mm.
A 2.7 inch LCD with 230,000 pixels and 100% field of view covers almost the entire back of the camera. With it you work in live mode and focus precisely. You can also view and frame your photos with the optical or electronic Leica Viewfinder (both optional), which fits in the Hot shoe on top of the camera body.
The camera saves both JPEG and DNG files. Registered owners can download a free version of Adobe Lightroom to edit the camera's DNG raw files. The X2 is compact (2.7 x 4.9") and light (only 11.2 oz). It has the legendary Leica precision design that recalls the classic Leica M-series rangefinders.

The fast, new Autofocus of the Leica X2 focuses extremely precisely and almost silently. Perfect for situations where you need to react spontaneously to capture the right moment. It adapts flexibly to the situation, for example with a choice of AF measuring fields or face detection.
The X2 converts the image data into JPEG files that you can use straight away. You can also save your photos as Adobe Digital Negative (DNG), a format that lets you take full advantage of the captured sensor data for image editing.
The LEICA X2 has a pop-up Flash that serves as the main Flash, but can also be used as a fill Flash and can be synchronised with the second shutter curtain.
